We don’t know exactly what the false teachers in Colossae were teaching, none of their teachings are explicitly quoted by Paul and Timothy in the Book of Colossians. However, we do see traces of what they taught in the emphases that Paul makes throughout the letter.
At his core, Paul is a pastor. Though he did not have a call to be the pastor of one congregation, he had a unique call from Jesus Himself to be a minister amongst all nations.
In our text this week, Paul tells us what the core of ministry is, “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”
